Fresh Produce Around Bakersfield, CA - Watson Realty

Bakersfield homes for sale have lots to offer; not least among the attractive features of Bakersfield is the surprising availability of fresh fruits and vegetables in the area all year long, including plump, scrumptious, locally grown strawberries—due to start appearing in local markets in April. Though the pandemic has impacted some fruit and vegetable venues in the Bakersfield area, you're still bound to find an abundance of produce this spring.

Grown primarily in coastal areas, strawberries are also produced by some Bakersfield farms. One of America's most beloved fruits, strawberries are prized not only for their delicious, mouth-watering flavor but also for their beautiful red color. Whether you're dressing up your breakfast cereal with strawberries or eating them with creme fraiche or ice cream for dessert, strawberries are sure to stimulate even the pickiest palates.

What's more, they're really, really good for you! A few of the health-improving things they do:

  • Prevent heart attacks
  • Fight cancer with high levels of antioxidants
  • Strengthen vision due to high levels of Vitamin C
  • Boost energy from carbohydrates
  • Improve vascular health
  • Keep you slim by slowing down digestion due to high fiber levels

So as you're settling into your new Bakersfield home, take a break and visit our local farmer's markets and fruit and vegetable producers. Treat your family to some delectable spring strawberries right from the local fields.
