On Saturday, November 6, the Run the Runway 5K returns to the community of Mojave. This annual event follows a course that includes the Mojave Airport's famous two-mile-long runway, surrounded by spectacular desert scenery. Taking place on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the Hot Chocolate Turkey Trot is a great way to get primed for the holiday. The race takes place in Bright Valley Recreation Area and offers splendid views of Bright Lake and the mountains beyond.

If you're looking for something to do other than watch the parade on Thanksgiving morning, we highly recommend the Bakersfield Turkey Day Run. Now in its third year, this annual 5K run benefits the Kern County Food Bank. - High Desert 50K Ultra and 30K - 3000 College Heights Blvd., Ridgecrest, CA 93555
In its 36th year, the High Desert 50K Ultra and 30K is one of Kern County's longest-running races. It's also one of the most challenging, but with the incredible landscape of the northern Mojave Desert as your backdrop, the rewards are plentiful. Just be sure to stay hydrated! The race begins at the Cerro Community College campus on Sunday, December 5.
- Bakersfield Jingle Bell Run - 11298 Stockdale Hwy., Bakersfield, CA 93311
Ring in the Christmas season on Saturday, December 18, with the annual Bakersfield Jingle Bell Run. This event includes a 5K run/walk as well as a 2K walk and a virtual run, and it benefits Toys for Tots. Participants are asked to dress up in their most festive Christmas attire and bring an unwrapped gift for a child in need. The Park at Riverwalk provides the beautiful setting for this festive annual tradition, now in its 4th year.
- Fog Run - 6299 Lake Ming Rd., Lake Ming, CA 93301
If your New Year's resolution is to get more exercise, then the Fog Run offers a great opportunity to get 2022 off to a running start. Beginning at 8 AM on Saturday, January 8, the Fog Run includes 5K and 10K events, with a racecourse along the scenic shores of Lake Ming, just outside Bakersfield. This year is the 32nd annual occurrence of this race, supporting the Kern County Probation Department's Stockdale Helping Hands program.
