Hiking Trails - Bakersfield, CA - Watson Realty

Sometimes we all need a break from screens and technology—a little digital detox, if you will. Luckily, spring is a mighty fine time to go for a hike in the Bakersfield area.

It's the perfect season, offering sunny skies and not-too-hot, not-too-cold weather. Our agents are excited to hit the trail, and we hope to see you out there at some of these scenic Bakersfield hiking spots!

  • Hart Park - Bakersfield, CA 93308
Spanning 370 acres alongside the Kern River, Hart Park is one of Bakersfield's most popular spots to take a break from city life and enjoy the outdoors. The park offers rugged, open terrain and shady groves of trees crisscrossed by a vast network of trails. The 2-mile Hart Park Trail is the most heavily used trail and is popular among joggers and dog walkers. To get a little farther off the beaten path, follow the 6.5-mile trek known as the Hart Park Big Loop. Hart Park is a short drive from many of these Bakersfield homes for sale and also offers two small lakes that are great for fishing.

Outbuilding Options - Bakersfield, CA - Watson Realty

One of the most popular projects among homeowners since we've been in our extended stay-at-home mode is installing outbuildings. There are so many different types of outbuildings these days: garden sheds, greenhouses, gazebos, tool sheds, guest houses, offices, exercise rooms, meditation spaces, playrooms for the kids, or even studios for arts and crafts. Installing an outbuilding can greatly enhance your enjoyment of your home right now and for however long you stay in it. And should you one day list it among Bakersfield homes for sale, you'll likely find the outbuilding has enhanced your property value.

Here are some tips to help you decide what type of outbuilding you should build.

Outbuildings for Your Property

  • Home Office
Using a home office these days means you're likely bringing your work home. If you've been trying to work in your house, you may have noticed how easy it is to get distracted. Whether it's the kids yelling or other family members turning the TV up loud, you need a place of quiet repose where you might conceivably bring clients. Some of the basics for furnishing your office: stylish desk, shelves, good lighting, and perhaps a ductless mini-split for winter heating and summer cooling. A couple of chairs for clients should round out things.

Luxury Kitchen Trends for 2021 - Watson Realty

There's no question that 2020 significantly changed the relationship we have with our living spaces. But nowhere is this more evident than in the kitchen. Our kitchens have never worked harder. They have become the most multifunctional room, doubling up as home offices, living rooms, dining rooms, and school. It makes sense that kitchen design trends for 2021 are focused on improving comfort, function, and resale value. If your kitchen feels a little stale, you might want to consider an upgrade. From smart tech to eye-catching color palettes, here are the kitchen trends our agents expect to see in 2021.

  • Smart Kitchens
Smart tech has entered the kitchen in full force. For convenience, many homeowners are having technology integrated into every appliance and feature, from the faucets to the lighting to the refrigerator. You can jump on the bandwagon with one-touch or motion sense-equipped faucets, a fridge that alerts you when items are running low, or a gadget that tells you which eggs are going bad. And don't forget smart lighting that allows you to control the lights from your phone.

Astronomy is an interesting hobby that can offer stunning views and an almost endless supply of new things to learn about. And it's a hobby that's perfect for that outdoor space at Bakersfield homes for sale. If you think astronomy is for you, here's how you can get started.

  • Get some equipment
You can see some things in the night sky with the naked eye, and you may want to start out that way if you're just trying it out. But to get a really good view of a wider variety of celestial features, you'll want binoculars or a telescope. There are different types of telescopes and binoculars. Depending on what you want to see and the viewing conditions, you'll want to get something that fits your needs. Doing some research may be helpful.
